Terms & conditions

Booking
At the owners discretion, a damage deposit may be requested of £250 against accidental damage & excessive cleaning costs, payable either with the balance of rental or with the full rental payment.  In normal circumstances all damage deposits will be refunded within one month of the holiday, subject to any costs of repairs or renewals.

A booking deposit of £100 or 1/3 of full booking price (whichever amount is greater) is required when booking self catering accommodation at Stowhouse Farm Cottages. When booking online full payment will be required, however the first £100 or 1/3 of full booking price (whichever amount is greater) will be regarded as the booking deposit. The contract will be formed once the deposit has been paid by cheque and the cheque clears.   At this stage, you will be sent formal confirmation of the dates booked, the booking deposit paid and the balance owing. All booking deposits are non refundable.  

The balance of the holiday cost should be paid 6 weeks before the holiday start date. For bookings within 6 weeks of the holiday start date, the full cost of the holiday is required upon booking. 

Each week of your holiday is charged separately according to the periods covered by the price list.

All prices are in GB Pounds and are fully inclusive of electricity, full central heating, bed linen and towels. We provide one bath towel and one hand towel per person. 

A washing machine and tumble dryer are available in the Laundry Room these are operated by a coin meter.  The meter takes 20p (6 minutes usage) and £1 (30 minutes usage) coins.

The cottages are available from 4pm on the day of arrival until 10am on the day of departure.  Unless prior arrangements have been made with the owners of Stowhouse Farm, guests must strictly adhere to these times to ensure cottages are serviced for your arrival and for the arrival of subsequent guests. We may not be able to accommodate you if you arrive earlier than the agreed time as we will be busy preparing your rooms.

Bookings will not be accepted from groups of single people under the age of 21 years.   

A highchair and travel cot (please provide your own cot linen) can be provided at no extra charge, subject to availability.   Please contact prior to booking to ensure your requirements can be provided for.

Please contact us before booking to discuss your requirements if one or more members of your party have a disability.  Portable induction loops are available on request.

Breakages
Occasionally accidents will happen and any losses or breakages must be notified to us.  Minor damages are not usually charged for.  Any serious damages and breakages will be charged at the cost of replacement. Properties are checked and cleaned before arrival.   If on arrival you find any damaged or non-working items it is important to notify the owner immediately so that matters can be rectified, and that you are not charged.   We ask that guests refrain from tampering with electrical equipment, if any item is found not to be working correctly, guests should refrain from using it and inform the owners of Stowhouse Farm immediately so that the item may be repaired or a replacement made.

Guest obligations
Guests shall keep the accommodation, all furniture and fittings in the same state of repair as at the commencement of the stay.  Guests shall leave the property in the same state of cleanliness and general order in which it was found.  Guests are responsible for the insurance of their own personal property whilst staying at Stowhouse Farm – Please ensure that you are adequately covered, especially for valuables.

Under no circumstances may more than the maximum number of persons stated on the website and in the brochure occupy the property. The person making the booking shall identify every member of their party on the Booking Form. Stowhouse Farm Cottages reserves the right to require additional persons to leave.   Additional guests or relatives visiting the cottage by day are also to be notified to the owners of Stowhouse Farm.  These measures are in place to ensure all members of your party are accounted for in the event of an emergency situation.

Noise Pollution
Please have consideration for other guests and keep noise at a reasonable level at all times. Please remember that noise carries at night as you return to your accommodation at the end of the evening. Guests must show regard for other guests when using electrical equipment, sports equipment and in the care of their children during their stay.

Guests must also respect the access of other tenants, owners and their agents when parking cars.

Guests shall allow the owner or his agent access to the property for purposes of repair or reasonable refurbishment.

For the comfort of all of our guests, the cottages and gardens are strictly non smoking.

Pets are not permitted. 

Liability
The owners do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves. Nor do we accept any liability for any act, neglect or default on their part or any person not within their employ, or otherwise under their control, nor for any accident, damage, loss, injury, expense or inconvenience whether to person or property, which the guests or any persons may suffer or incur that arise out of the letting, or is in any way connected with the letting. There is a lockable shed for bicycles etc.  Please note that anything left in the shed will be at your own risk.

The owners try to ensure our website and literature is accurate and up to date.  However, there will be on occasion small differences to the cottages and farm as we are always updating and improving facilities for your enjoyment. We cannot accept responsibility for any changes made to the local amenities and attractions mentioned in our website, literature or by our staff. 

Horses
Stowhouse Farm provides only accommodation, stabling, grazing and suggested riding routes.  We do not hire or provide horses or transport horses.

Any damage caused to our stables or equipment will be fully chargeable.  The owners accept no responsibility for any damage caused to you, your horse or by your horse to anyone or anything at Stowhouse Farm or for anything either on or off the property at Stowhouse Farm.  Your horse and tack remain your responsibility during your stay and are left entirely at your own risk.  

Your horse must be fully insured against any damage it may cause.  We will require evidence of valid insurance, which must include third party liability.  All horses must also have a valid passport.

Visiting horses must be in good health and carry no infectious diseases.  All horses must be fully vaccinated against flu and tetanus and have been wormed prior to arrival.  Any horses displaying ill health may be asked to leave immediately, no refunds will be given in such circumstances.

The owners reserve the right to call a veterinary surgeon to any visiting horse, if they feel that there is a risk of a health emergency or for the welfare of the animal.  In these circumstances the veterinary costs will be fully at the expense of the owner.

All routes, including roads, country lanes, bridleways, the cross country course or any land at Stowhouse Farm and in the surrounding countryside are ridden at entirely your own risk.  Stowhouse Farm accepts no responsibility for any injury, accident or incident occurring in such places.  Please ensure that you have adequate insurance to cover any of the horses and riders in your party for any activities including riding the cross country course and show jumps.  Horse riding can be a dangerous activity and is undertaken entirely at your own risk. You must bring your own suitable protective equipment and it should be worn at all times when handling horses.  In the event of any injury occurring, the owners of Stowhouse Farm should be notified immediately and the accident book completed. Riders under 18 years old must be accompanied by adults at all times when riding.

Animals are unpredictable and we expect riders to behave in a safe and sensible manner at all times.  Please maintain a safe distance from other animals when riding in fields.

For safety reasons there may be times of the year when certain areas of the farm are inaccessible for riding due to hazards.  Guests must accept that these restrictions are in their best interests. Owners reserve the right to withdraw grazing when necessary to preserve the condition of the fields.

In the unlikely event of Guest’s conduct being unacceptable or where our terms and conditions are disregarded the Owners reserve to right to ask Guests to leave the premises. No refunds will be given in these circumstances.

All stables are to be mucked out prior to departure, unless paying for full livery or previously arranged with the Owners. Horses are to be removed from Stowhouse Farm at the same time as vacation of the cottages.

Cancellation
By making your booking, our agreement is a legal contract and your deposit is non-refundable. 

The owners will make every effort to re-let the property and where this is possible will refund the rental less the original deposit paid. If you cannot take your holiday and the booking cannot be re-let, you are still liable to pay for the booking in full, even if we have not yet received your balance. 

If we do succeed in re-letting the booking, you are no longer liable for the balance, or we will refund it to you if you have already paid it, less a £30 administration fee.

Holiday insurance is easy and prices are competitive - for more information check to see policies run by your home and car insurers. We strongly recommend that you take out insurance to cover you in the event of cancelling your holiday.

Non-availability
The Owners reserve the right to alter the booking arrangements in the event of unforeseen circumstances. We would only cancel your holiday if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would however attempt to offer you alternative accommodation.  If this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you for the holiday. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Privacy 
Stowhouse Farm is committed to protecting your privacy.   All information will be collected lawfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. 

We collect information about you for 2 reasons: 

  • To process your booking 
  • To provide you with the best possible service.

We will not email you in the future unless you have given us your consent.  We do not send random marketing emails to personal email addresses (Spam). 

The type of information we will collect about you includes: 

  • Name 
  • Address 
  • Phone number 
  • Email address 

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent and the information we have will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we have about you by emailing us. If you find any inaccuracies please let us know and we will delete or correct it for you.
